Warrior One Pose -Yoga
The Warrior pose one (Virabhadrasana 1 ) I think is fitting to talk of as we turn into a new year and new beginnings. The Warrior one pose is a pose of celebration of where you are, where you are going and most importably who you are!
Yes the Warrior One is named after the warrior in the Bhagavad Gita called Virabhadrasana and you may wonder why does a warrior take such preference in our Yoga practice as Yoga is not about violence but connecting to our inner- self’s. The Warrior is symbolic in Yoga and is used as the spiritual warrior that is within all of us and is called upon in times that require of us to take a deeper look into ourselves and find that warrior within to stay the course where otherwise we would bolt and run for the mountains.
As we find our grounding and foundation with our feet we expand and center our hips, raise our arms above our heads and feel the Warrior One within us growing as we grow with every breath. So as we breath in tension can we on our exhale celebrate something in our life’s to be grateful. Try it and feel your energy rise to your own rhythm.
